My experience with Golden Retriever Haven has been great from the start.
I have disabilities that require the help of a service dog. Most organizations have a wait list of over 5 years, which is not an accessible option. I ended up getting in touch with a trainer who connected me with Allan.
I contacted Allan with the requirements that I need in a dog and he was able to match me with a litter and was happy to answer all my questions. He was great with answering my questions about costs, the pick up and travel of the pup, he sent me all the information about the parents health and worked with my trainer to temperament test the litter that I was selecting my pup from.
I was given the first pick of the Stella and Major litter, once the puppies where temperament tested there was 3 possible candidates. Allan was great with answering my questions on the puppies personality. Based off of his observations and my preferences I picked my pup Geneva.
He was the best decision I could have made and has been an absolute rock star.
I find Allan’s dedication to the puppies truly amazing. When it came time to receive the puppies Allan had decided that instead of putting them on a plane he would drive them from Manitoba to Ontario. He wanted to be able to meet me, my trainer and some of the other clients receiving his puppies. Which I find that really shows how much he cares about the homes his puppies are going into.
Geneva is a true testament to his breeding and it’s evident everyday in his work. He is now 9 months old is healthy, absolutely gorgeous, and has an incredibly balanced temperament. We have recently completed two separate 5 hour Via rail trips to go home over the holidays. He may be a Service Dog in Training but when his vest is on he is a professional good boy. He picks up new training quickly and loves to work almost as much as he loves food.
Geneva has shown me how much better life can be and I would never change him for the world. He is my light in the dark and I don’t care if everyone says this about their dogs, but he’s definitely the best dog ever.
