Hope & Lucky

After the very sad loss of our first golden retriever, we started looking for a trustable dog breeder on the Internet. We knew we wanted a true golden retriever and we had a preference for the dark red ones. We wanted a dog who would do great with our 6 children so it was important to carefully choose our breeder. 

Then I found Allan. Everything I found out about him and Golden Retriever Haven appeared trustable and worthy so I decided to e-mail him. From my very first e-mail I felt that he was a caring and sensitive person. I was very simple talking to him and I really felt I could trust him. I wrote about 30 emails to him over the months and every single time I got an answer. He even took the time to talk to me over the phone and kindly address all my concerns. After a few months, we were ready to welcome our female puppy. Allan gave us options from different litters and puppies. Every week or so, I would email again and ask for new photos or videos and he would always take the time to do it.

As we live in Quebec, Allan made all the arrangements for the flights. We just had to drive to the nearest airport to pick up the puppy. He texted us to keep us updated with flight departure and arrival and sent a picture of the puppy ready for her flight. We are very grateful to have found him as a breeder. It feels like winning the lottery.

As for our puppy named Hope, she very quickly made her way into our hearts. We have numerous children and they all love her so much. She is both playful and calm, very sweet, and extremely intelligent. It is easy to raise her. She wakes me up in the morning by kindly touching my arm with her nose and then we walk through the whole house together to wake up the kids. She enters every room and lick their arm or cheek to say good morning. It took her a week only to know our daily routine. She did not cry at all, not even the very first night. Of course, I had her with me for the first 2 or 3 nights, almost sharing my pillow.

She is growing up so nicely. People are impressed by her elegance and dark red coat. She welcomes every visitor with a lot of passion and affection. Playful during the day, she is also the greatest at cuddling when the night comes. She has her way of hugging me with hear little head…She is very very sweet.

She loves going to the park with us or swimming in the pool or the river. Almost everything we do she does too. One last thing…she has three beds all around the house BUT she always prefers crashing on the couch with us or choosing a bed to sleep with a member of her human family. I never thought I would EVER let a dog do that, until we got Hope…

End of the story: it does not end! We are already planning on welcoming a second puppy from Allan within the next year. An a third for Hope’s human grand parents…It’s a complete love story with Golden Retriever Haven, Allan and his marvelous dogs. ''
